Lake Turkana Wind Power proved Kenya could deliver a wind project at genuinely world-scale ambition. Kipeto Wind Power, developed independently in Kajiado County, proved that wasn't a one-off. Together with the older Ngong Hills project closer to Nairobi, they establish wind as a proven, bankable technology class in Kenya, not a single exceptional result.
The hard lessons from that history are as valuable as the successes. Kenya's best wind resources tend to sit in remote locations, which means transmission infrastructure has to be financed and sequenced with the same discipline as the generation asset itself, a lesson Lake Turkana's early transmission mismatch taught the market at real cost.
