Our Approach
Our Sector Approach
Sector expertise is not a marketing claim at Boostbridge, it is a genuine differentiator that shapes how we advise clients, how we source and package projects, and how we assess risk. Our advisory team draws on direct professional experience across these sectors, and we are deliberate about staying close to the technical and commercial detail rather than offering generic coverage. That grounding shapes what due diligence questions we ask and which capital providers make sense for a given project.
Our Commitment
Focus Over Breadth
As a boutique firm, we deliberately concentrate our attention on the ten sectors that matter most to Kenya's clean energy transition rather than spreading thin across unrelated industries. This focus lets us bring real sector depth to market entry advisory, project sourcing, and capital mobilisation engagements, rather than offering generalist coverage that looks broad but runs shallow. As our engagement pipeline grows, we intend to keep this same discipline: depth in a defined set of sectors, not breadth for its own sake.
Sector Themes
Where We See Opportunity
Kenya's Energy Transition
Kenya's shift toward cleaner power generation and more resilient energy infrastructure represents a significant advisory opportunity in the years ahead. We are building our practice around renewable energy market entry, project sourcing, and capital mobilisation to help clients capture this opportunity in Kenya's market.
Grid Modernisation & Storage
Constrained grid infrastructure is one of the biggest bottlenecks to clean energy deployment in Kenya. We see meaningful advisory opportunity in battery storage, grid integration, and grid-balancing projects here, and expect this theme to matter across emerging markets more broadly as our practice grows.
Energy Access & Financial Inclusion
The expansion of off-grid and mini-grid energy access, often bundled with pay-as-you-go and mobile money financing, is a structural theme with strong fundamentals in Kenya. We are building relationships with operators delivering energy access in ways that combine commercial viability with clear social impact.
Sector Expertise in Depth
How Deep Sector Knowledge Shapes Better Transactions
Sector expertise shapes every stage of an advisory engagement. In market entry and origination, sector knowledge allows us to identify which projects have genuine potential and which have structural flaws that will prevent them from reaching the market. In due diligence, sector-specific benchmarks allow us to assess whether a project's fundamentals are strong, average, or weak relative to comparable projects, a judgement that generic analysis cannot make. In structuring, sector knowledge allows us to help clients design deal structures that are genuinely sound rather than theoretically adequate.
Our sector coverage is not uniform. Our leadership team's combined experience runs deepest in solar, wind, and off-grid access, sectors where our founders have direct professional backgrounds. In hydropower, green hydrogen, and carbon markets, we bring strong foundational knowledge but are deliberately selective about the engagements we take on, because our depth there is still building. We are transparent with clients about where our expertise is strongest and where we may bring in outside sector specialist input. This honesty is preferable to overstating our capabilities and delivering a substandard outcome.
Sector dynamics change over time, and we invest in keeping our knowledge current. We follow sector publications and regulatory developments, engage directly with regulators and market participants in Kenya, and are building relationships with DFIs and sector specialists active in the market. This ongoing engagement helps us stay current on the structural trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics that affect the viability of the projects we advise on.
Sector Selection
How We Choose Where to Focus
Sector selection is one of the most consequential decisions we make as a boutique firm, and we approach it as a deliberate, evidence-based process rather than following market trends or fashion. We evaluate each sector against a set of criteria: the size of the opportunity relative to available capital and expertise, the maturity of the regulatory and legal framework, the availability of credible local counterparties, and our ability to add genuine value relative to other advisers. We take on engagements in sectors where we believe we can bring real, defensible expertise, not just a willingness to say yes.
We review our sector focus regularly, assessing which sectors are showing genuine momentum in Kenya, which are moving more slowly than expected, and where new opportunities are emerging. This review is informed by our own market intelligence, direct conversations with regulators and market participants, and the outcomes of the engagements we take on.
Focus is a founding principle, not an afterthought. Rather than spreading ourselves across every sector adjacent to clean energy, we concentrate on the ten sectors set out on this page, because sustained depth in a defined set of sectors serves clients better than shallow coverage of many. As Boostbridge grows, we intend to keep this same discipline at the centre of how we decide where to invest our time and expertise.
New sector entry is a deliberate process. Before we take on our first engagement in a new sector, we conduct our own assessment of the market dynamics, the key players, typical deal structures, the major risks, and the availability of relevant specialist input. This preparation means our entry into a new sector is grounded in genuine understanding rather than an opportunistic reaction to a single incoming enquiry.
